Wow what a very American weekend we have coming up here in Shanghai! That’s not to say ALL nationalities are not invited to join and in fact it’s encouraged!
Second Annual Shanghai Barbeque Cook-off and Bluegrass Festival
First up, Shanghai’s Second Annual Barbeque Cook-off and Bluegrass Festival is slated for Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., in the Party Garden of Bubba’s Expo Village location. Cost to enter is 100 rmb, which includes a complementary draft beer, cocktail, or wine, and a chance to sample competition-level barbeque from close to a dozen teams who are all vying for honors in any or all of the five meat categories being judged.
You’ll also be treated to Shanghai’s first ever Bluegrass Festival, with live music fronted by Nashville Pro Adam Brooks Dudding, who’ll be joined by the likes of mandolin phenom Tom Pang and some of a cast of some of Shanghai's finest musicians performing Country Classics, Southern Rock and Roots gems, along with original material that will get your toes tapping, your fingers snapping, your hands clapping and your boots scooting all afternoon! This music has never been done on this scale and in an outdoor environment in Shanghai and perhaps all of China! It’s something truly to come out and enjoy.
If that’s not enough for you to get motivated to come on out for a day of fun in the sun, and if you get overheated when you do come, crawl into VnC’s onsite IGLOO and cool down with fresh cocktails made with 100 percent fruit juice! And, after that experience, step into the onsite DeVere Group SNOW GLOBE and get your pic done with the official cook-off logo as a backdrop!
Does this event sound crazy enough yet? Trust me….
A quick thanks to all our partners in making this even happen again for the enjoyment of all….Crown Relocations, Baode Home Delivery, Ferngrove Western Australia Wines, Sherpa’s, Shanghai Expat, and CityWeekend.
Full Day of American Football on Sunday
What better way to recoup from an afternoon at a barbeque cook-off on Saturday, than to suit up in full pads on Sunday and go after it NFL-style baby. That’s exactly what’s in store for this coming Sunday at the Shanghai American School in Minhang, where there will be three games back to back, starting with two games between the Shanghai Sea Dragons and the Puxi Slayers (JV and varsity kids), and then topped off with an adults game between the Shanghai Nighthawks and the Warriors.
Bubba’s will have busses leave the restaurant and return after the games for those wanting to come out and catch all the action! Bubba’s and Melrose Pizza will also be onsite doing burgers, hotdogs, and well…pizza folks! For the busses we are asking for RSVPs to make sure we have enough seats. There definately will be at least one bus leaving Bubba's at 4 p.m. for the adults game, and possibly two. I'd like to add a bus for the little kids games, which would leave Bubba's at 1 p.m., but again we need to have RSVPs to check interest.
Here are game times and current busses:
-
1 p.m. -- Fans Bus Departs for Full Day of Action (based on interest so e-mail me!).
-
2:15 to 3:10 p.m. – Sea Dragons vs Slayers Junior Team Game
-
3:30 – 4:30 p.m. – Sea Dragons vs Slayers Seniors Team
-
4 p.m. -- Fans Bus Departs for Adult Game
-
5 p.m. – 8 p.m. – Nighthawks vs Warriors Adults Game
Again, e-mail me for fan bus details!
Hope to see you at one of these events this coming weekend!
KJ
