Celebrate Independence Day Weekend @ Bubba's!

We’ve got a busy weekend of Independence Day celebrations coming up starting tomorrow with the American Chamber’s Fourth of July picnic in She Shan. If you’re coming out for the celebration, be sure and stop by, say hello, and get one of Bubba’s famous pulled pork sandwiches (included with your ticket), or sign up for one of our partner’s VIP home delivery cards which will allow you to enjoy home delivery of many of the premium imported meats and seafoods that Bubba’s chooses to serve to customers in our restaurants. You can see their product line up at www.baode.net.cn

The following day, on Sunday, July 4th, from Noon to 6 p.m., Bubba’s brings to you our own Fourth of July Barbeque and Music Festival. This popular annual event brings together friends and family for a day of barbeque, cold refreshments, and fun and games for both kids and adults. Two bands will take the front porch stage this year, starting with Lone Star Wind (the official rockers of Bubba’s annual Chili Cook-offs) and The Dark Roast. No cover for this party, just specials on cold beer (including premium imported beers at 25 rmb each) and great value on Texas sausage, burgers, pork ribs, and pulled pork. Come early and get a good seat or come with a partner and sign up for the Corn Hole tournament, sponsored this year by the good folks at Just Beer.

Bubba’s Fifth Annual Chili Cook-off

This major annual event in Shanghai, it might even be safe to call it an institution at this stage, is scheduled for Saturday, September 18, from Noon to 6 p.m. Put it on your calendar now because you don’t want to be one of those that come to me after the event….tears in your eyes….saying you forgot and scheduled an out of town gig on that day. This year is extra special not only because it’s our Fifth Annual, but this year we finally will be fully sanctioned by the Chili Appreciation Society International, which means that the winning team of this year’s cook-off will receive automatic entry into the granddaddy of all cook-offs….the annual Terlingua International Chili Championship, which takes place in Texas each November. Sanctioning our event means that our process of managing teams and keeping the judging free of bias and totally fair for all teams is approved and valid for major chili cook-offs. It’s a great accolade to our event and to the people that have helped judge it for the past few years, including our Head Judge Mark “Mad Dawg” Brown. Thanks Mark. For everyone else, including teams gearing up to compete, you’ll be hearing more on this later. But right now…MARK THIS EVENT DOWN AS NOT TO MISS.

That’s about it for now. I look forward to seeing everybody this weekend at one or both of the Independence Day celebrations.
