Upcoming Events @ Bubba's, and 2nd year in a row winner of the Rib Crawl!

First up… a pat on the back for the staff at Bubba’s for once again coming in first place in the recent “rib crawl,” where nearly 40 people traveled the city in search of the Best Ribs in Shanghai. This is our second time to come in first in this competition, and when you slot in places like Di Shui Dong and Guyi (2nd Place, Hunan style), the competition is pretty good. Other places on the trail included Pinnacle Peak (3rd), South Beauty, Southern Belle, and Malone’s.

If you haven’t been out to try our ribs lately, come on out as we’ve changed them up a bit. We used to smoke strictly dry, but as of a few weeks ago we’ve been mopping the meat toward the end of the smoking process to build up the bark. For the sop sauce, we’re using our own barbeque sauce diluted with beer, and the ribs….which were good before…..are now at the fantastic level. Come give them a try.

Bubba’s July 4th Picnic and Barbeque

We’ll once again be hosting a family style July 4th celebration featuring live music, face painting and water balloon tosses for the kids, a cornhole tournament for the adults, and specials on hamburgers, hotdogs, ribs, and Texas smoked sausage. Put this one on the calendar now and stay tuned for details.

‘Tis the Season to Barbeque

If you have plans to put on a Spring barbeque for your friends and family, why not hold it at Bubba’s in the front yard? We cater to all size groups and can custom tailor an event to your liking. In fact, if you want to “man up” on the smoker you can have at it, or rent me for the day. I’m cheap and when I’m smoking meats, I usually will work for as little as a few beers. I’ll be cooking for a group out front in a couple weeks so I thought I would open this up to others that might be interested. We also have some great new outdoor furniture (thanks Ted!) that melts around your body when you sit down. Give it some thought and let me know if you’re interested in pulling something together. We can also go outside of Bubba’s of course and cater any event you might need!

Bubba’s Fifth Annual Shanghai Chili Cook-off – Saturday, September 18th

Chili chefs and aficionados start your ladles! The Fifth Annual Shanghai Chili Cook-off is on the calendar for Saturday, September 18th. This year, celebrating our fifth chili cook-off anniversary, is going to be bigger and better than ever. With around 650 people attending last year, we’re planning to expand further into the street behind Bubba’s to create Shanghai’s first ever true street festival. Live music and cold beer of course will be on hand, as will some of the best chili served up West of El Paso. So, mark this one down for a day not to miss and start working on those recipes now!

Miller Genuine Draft…..Coming Soon to China!

That’s right, MGD is making it’s way to China with first stop slated for Shanghai. Hopefully, fingers crossed, the launch will coincide with July 4th so stay tuned for details.
