Bubba’s Bar-B-Que Hosting Shanghai’s Sixth Annual
Invitational Barbeque Cook-off and Music Festival

Bubba’s Texas-style Bar-B-Que and Saloon, the first and longest running American-style barbeque restaurant in Shanghai, will host Shanghai’s Sixth Annual Barbecue Cook-off and Music Festival on Saturday, June 4, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.  This year’s contest is an “invitational,” with only the top scoring teams from the past five years getting invites to compete.

The event this year also coincides with Bubba’s 10th Year Anniversary, making the Sixth Annual Cook-off the most significant to date.  This epic party will take place at Bubba’s original location in Hong Qiao.

The annual barbecue cook-off has attracted crowds exceeding 1,000 each year, with up to 20 teams competing in various barbecue categories.  This year, however, due to space limitations, the event will be limited to 10 teams with advance ticket sales not to exceed 400 people.

Tickets can be purchased at Bubba’s, or by coordinating with Ken Walker via WeChat ID: ShanghaiBubba.

For 300 rmb guests gain entrance to the cook off and music festival, as well as free flow of barbecue and cold refreshments all day.  The tournament this year is limited to the top 10 scoring teams over the last five years, with prizes up for grabs across five categories: Best Sausage, Best Chicken, Best Pork Rib, Best Pork, and Best Beef.

Annual Barbeque Cookoff

Bubba's Annual Shanghai Chili Cook-off is entering its 10th historical event in the Fall of 2015.  The event each years draws in more than 1,000 guests and several dozen teams who compete on the day for the honor of making the Best Chili in Shanghai.  The outdoor festival is a classic rendition of great festivals that take place all over North America, which includes live music, activities for kids, eating contests, and of course the teams competing for titles at the end of the day.  The event has been recognized as an official CASI super regional competition and one year sent two teams to compete in the International Chili Championships in Terlingua, Texas.

Annual Barbecue Cook-off

Bubba's added an annual barbecue cook-off to its event list in 2010 with great success.  From the start the event attracted more than 1,000 guests and usually two dozen teams who compete for awards in any or all of five categories, ranging from Best Sausage to Best Pork Ribs to Best Pulled/Chopped Meat.  Held on the same site as the Chili Cook-off, the barbecue cook-off promises to be a year on year hit among Shanghai barbecue enthusiasts.

Annual Super Bowl Party

One of the first venues that pop to mind when the annual Super Bowl games rolls around is Bubba's.  NFL fans come out in the early hours of the morning to enjoy the live game and friends over great breakfasts and barbecue.  It's an all day long party, and an official holiday among most expats living in Shanghai.

Bubba's does a bristling Thanksgiving business with smoked USDA turkeys and all the traditional sides, most of which have a Southern spin on them.  The restaurant does dine-in as well as carry out service for this special day.
